Behind the lens of Steph + Eric's Landmark wedding shot

I'm gonna start with the stunner. The big one. The bold one. Possibly the best shot of 2017.

 When I dip, you dip.

When I dip, you dip.

When I had my initial meeting with Steph and she told me about the venue, I got goosebumps. Landmark Loew's Jersey Theater is a Jersey City gem dating back to right before the 1930s. It has seen the likes of Bing Crosby and Bob Hope as well as many others, and its regal architecture inside is one for the books; it truly makes you feel like you're there for the performance of a lifetime.

I'll be getting the blog post for this entire wedding up soon, but in the meantime, I wanted to talk about this picture. It was a team effort. One photographer on the sidewalk with the flash, a guest ushering pedestrians away, another photographer weaving through city traffic to stand in the street to get the shot.

My style for wedding portraits is usually more light and airy but this one just made all our jaws drop when we saw it. I am a sucker for white space around a subject but this black space is so fancy, so elegant, so rich. And the gold and red tones in it just make it POP.

Can't wait to show y'all the rest soon!

Well, okay...just one more for right now :)
